I actually wore this particular outfit a week or so ago during my time at Marie Claire but since my outfits this week have more to do with practicality and the stormy weather I decided to post these pictures now.
What can I say...I currently live too close to a Zara store and it's still clearance season. Plus I barely brought any clothes on the plane with me since I had to prioritize electronics/bedding/toiletries/sneakers/etc in my luggage and carry-on bags. I'm usually fine with re-wearing the same ten pieces on a month-long trip but this time I'm actually supposed to look somewhat stylish daily at a fashion job/internship. Some girl made me stop walking at a cross intersection on Fashion Ave to ask where I got these heels. I think she expected some designer brand but I disappointed her with answering that these are clearance Zara. The girl took pictures of these shoes at three different angles on her phone. I don't think I've ever been on her level of shopping intensity; my purchases are usually based on what's the most accessible location- and time-wise for me as I rarely am free when brick-and-mortar stores are open. I can't wait to have some free time to scour the flea markets here in NYC.
---------------------------------------------
This week I was working at LOFT! I learned a lot about the different levels of photoshoots and the business considerations behind the styling of each of those levels. The LOFT girls decided that Thursday was Burger King day; we spent a good 20-30 minutes tracking down a location around Times Square so one of the stylists can try the new bacon ice cream sundae. When one person pointed out that she should not be eating a burger (again), the following conversation happened:
Me: "You've got to live a little some times..."
Her: "I clearly LIVE TOO MUCH."
A sample sale also took place at Ann Inc. this week and I found it so mind-boggling that all marked (with Sharpie) or imperfect samples were only $1. The rest was only $5-10. I walked away with so many nice $1 white button-up blouses that I can easily throw in a bin of bleach to take away the Sharpie markings. I love classic button ups plus I had a feeling I will need all of them if I'm going into law. The only other time I can think of where I got quality pieces for so cheap was when I scored a vintage maxi beaded dress and a blazer still with Nordstrom tags on it for 99 cents each at thrift stores. I love Texas thrifting.
It's my birthday this weekend! Even though I will be celebrating with friends and family back in Austin in a week, I still want to do something this weekend. Any suggestions? Your favorite bakery might be a great start as I'm definitely going to indulge in my sweet tooth this weekend.
Have a happy weekend everyone!

I highly recommend this! for $19.99 I've worn this skirt already 4-5 times within the 2 weeks I've purchased it. It goes with everything!
DeleteHappy birthday! I love Ann Taylor, but never feel like the pieces fit me well.
ReplyDeleteI love Ann Taylor but I feel like LOFT is more me. However at the sample sale I mostly got basics for work so Ann Taylor it is. :)
DeleteGreat outfit, I love your silver capped shoes they add the perfect touch :)

haha that's intense that girl who took all the photos of your shoes! Maybe she was actually a street shoe blogger? :p
ReplyDeleteI doubt it... I think she was pretty fashion-obsessed. I did like her Givenchy purse though.
DeleteAmazing outfit! Love the parka jacket! x

I'm so crazy about that bag of yours...
ReplyDeletei love ur scarf! and ur bag!
ReplyDeleteI love the shoe story. I have seen people I wanted to do that to, but I didn't want to look totally batty lol! They are super cute though. I love the heel detail.
ReplyDeleteI think I have walked up to people to ask where they got an item before...but never take picture of something while someone's about to cross an intersection. Either way, she's dedicated and I appreciate the compliment on my shoes. :)
DeleteOH no. Being so close to Zara sounds like an addiction in the making. Beautiful scarf. I like the way you wore it.
