forever 21 shirt/bag, lucca couture skirt, river island shoes
This is dangerously close to an outfit repeat but I figured since I wear this as an "uniform" of sorts in real life, I should post this again online. I was excited to finally obtain a striped shirt that's as close to perfect as I'm probably going to get without breaking down and buying the $50+ version. In searching for certain basics over the past three years, I've realized how difficult it is to find the perfect, non-trendy basic within budget. I can always find striped shirts with sequined shoulders, in a cropped silhouette, or in the short sleeve or skirt form. However, the perfect long-sleeved, black/navy and white, thin striped shirt has eluded me for so many years. I can always get an APC shirt but it's hard to invest in cotton basics that I wash often when I have to deal with industrial strength washing machines at the moment. I've also been looking for chunky cable-knit cardigans in cotton (as opposed to acrylic), perfect leather ballet flats in black (I might eventually invest in a pair of Repettos), and button-downs in wrinkle-free cotton (is there such a thing? In any case I'm usually in too much of a hurry to iron). If anyone have suggestions, please share.
Well, I must leave for research again. My mentor is gone for the next two weeks and it just so happens that I'm at the most critical step of my experiment. I'm a bit scared to continue without him but two weeks is precious time if we want to publish our results before I leave UT...
PS. I'm thinking of cutting my hair back short. I had short hair for the last 2 years of high school and Freshman year in college and I'm craving the extra 10 minutes saved every day from shampoo/conditioner time and not having to brush my hair every few hours.

WOw u look so amazing. THESE photos are beautifu l;)
ReplyDeleteI hear you. I finally started saving up for and investing in basics that last forever. I understand you're very busy as taking care of them can be a job in itself if you don't get everything washed and folded or dry cleaned. :)

GREAT top. Perfect basic
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is darling! The red skirt is perfect with the striped top. Hope your experiment turns out well, girl!

Great uniform and I'm in the same boat, for quality pieces, sometimes, I feel like I have to spend a little more to get that "perfect" item. But I think it's worth it if the item is durable and can tough it out through multiple washes and wears. =)
ReplyDeletei'm so in love with your bag! and what a great little red skirt!

It's interesting that you brought up how hard it is to find quality staples, because I was just thinking the same thing. Glad you found such a great striped shirt, though!

I totoally hear you on how difficult it can be to find basics that are classic and not trendy (for a decent price)! I went to the mall in a (small) town near by and pretty much had sequences added to it. I don't know why that was...
ReplyDeletereally like this outfit, my fave piece is the skirt. Cutting your hair maybe cut off like 4 or 5 inches and see if you still want to go short after that?
I bought the same bag from forever 21! I love it! This reminds me of an outfit I did which was a navy striped top with red shorts! But I like it with the skirt! too cute!
