close-up of Cris and her awesome accessories
So I finally got around to editing (read: merely resizing/cropping, I had no time to actually do much else) the over 700 pictures I took during the TX Style Council Conference, Style X, and general SXSW madness. Enjoy!!!

The podium right before the TX Style Council Conference started....all thanks to Grechen, Indiana, and sponsors...

One awesome dreamcatcher at Style X....

Janette (co-creator of StorEnvy, blogger) and Indiana (co-organizer of TXSCC, blogger)...

more jewelry pieces...

someone's awesome shoes (and pants)...

more booth eye candy...

loving the center and right pieces...

I think Tim would have stole the longhorn skull. He has a fierce love of all things Texan...

beautifully carved wooden necklaces....

Angel's amazing rings and bracelets, as well as her glitter nails...

Indiana and Kelly speaking at the Style X panels

another panel speaker, Syuzi Pakhchyan: author, Fashioning Technology, I could not take my eyes off of her boots and bag...

my turkey burger and VIP pass for the Perez Hilton event hosted by Samsung Focus.

No idea what was going on but do I really need to explain why I captured this? Quote Joanna: "Ah! I can take a video of them and make them invisible!"
After 25 years of the phenomenon that is SXSW in Austin, Texas, a long-overdue fashion component was finally incorporated and named "Style X." A two day event filled with American Apparel Flea Market madness, runway shows featuring musicians instead of models (to emphasize the relationship between fashion and music), booths upon booths of amazing jewelry and clothes, Style X was definitely the beginning of something beautiful and to look forward to during SXSW. I'm glad fashion in my hometown, the ATX, has finally earned a somewhat formal title.
I already talked a lot about the TXSCC in previous posts, but I refrained putting too many pictures of that particular event on here because so much photography coverage has already been done. I even refrained from putting on full runway coverage of Style X because there were many photographers that documented the shows; instead I focused on little details that intrigued me throughout the week.
As you can see, jewelry and accessories in general were the focus of my photos. I actually had so much fun documenting the entire week that I'm thinking about starting to do streetstyle slightly more often on here. Not exactly full-body shots, just little inspiring details that I see while walking around the UT campus. The problem to overcome would be finding a way to lug around my heavy DSLR along with my books while walking around campus...

You got some amazing shots! Wow... I definitely love the new feature over at SXSW.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Wish you took one of your outfit, though. It's always a pleasure to see your clothes, Diya. :)

ReplyDeleteThe bottom picture is of the "green guys" I'm guessing that the Vancouver Canucks were playing hockey there that day...because the green guys are always at the games doing crazy stuff up against the penalty box glass. (How I know this? The Canucks are "my" hockey team.)

ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog today and I realized we go to the same school!
Perhaps not the same college though, I'm in the College of Communications. But still I couldn't believe I found a fellow blogger who goes to UT like me! Who knows, maybe I've seen you and thought, "I like her shoes..." haha Thanks for not wearing the typical sorority shirt with nike shorts like everyone, it's good to have variety :)
My blog is just starting out but you are definitely an inspiration,
thanks a bunch!
