shakuhachi dress, amrita singh bangles, forever 21 earrings, charlotte russe pumps
After months of stalking Shakuhachi's pieces, I finally bit the bullet and bought two pieces when they were 50% off. Still way more money than I usually spend on clothes but for some reason breezy floral dresses and ruffled/lacey blouses are more considered "basics" in my closet than a cotton t-shirt or pencil skirt. I would wear this dress for the rest of my life and there's the bonus of no defined waistline for fashions events during which I pig out on too much food and iced tea. I've learned that a free waistline is important for flattering photos of myself at such events since the food's always way too good to resist ;). I also found these beautiful earrings at f21 on the same day I scored a beautiful purse that I'm going to do a simple D.I.Y. project on. Results coming soon this week...
This was what I wore yesterday to the 6th and Waller St Fashion and Arts Show. A truly Austin event, the show was a blend of eco-friendly fashion, local art, and lots of trailer park food. As I was walking out of the event I ran into a few pals from UT Fashion Group and I had to stop Stefant for a closeup shot of his AWESOME crystal wire-wrapped necklace. Apparently he got it from Buffalo Exchange for $9 which is so unfair since I check that store out religiously and completely missed it.Then as we were leaving the show we ended up behind an ice cream truck and when I admitted to Tim I've sadly NEVER had ice cream from an ice cream truck before, he decided to stalk the truck and finally pull up next to them after a 5-minute chase. We bought two ice cream sandwiches that finally filled a void in my childhood years. I really wish ice cream trucks will make a comeback because there's just something magical about them, you know?

I love seeing you in action! What fun to have such a fantastic photographer who is also willing to buy you ice cream from a truck. I never had it either. They are so illusive!
ReplyDeleteYou are just adorable! Love the look as well as the sweet story.
ReplyDeleteTotally get what you mean with the defined waistline. I hate it when I chow down and everyone knows x_x Looks silly.

ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous and a well deserved purchase. It looks great on you! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid there was an ice cream truck that drove by every afternoon- my favorites were always Flintstone's push-ups. Good times! Glad you can finally check that off your bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the loose, free-waisted dresses for food events! Nothing is worse than being surrounded by tasty food when you're stuffed into a tight outfit. This one is gorgeous and completely within your favored color palette. I imagine you'll have a lot of success remixing it.
Hiya, I've tagged you here in this little contest
