There's nothing super new here, I really need to reorganize my room and closet better in order to dress better! I love this fringe skirt because it's so...swishy (there, I said it). I've noticed how I'm all over the place with my style since I've been trying to catch up on blog interview requests; this style bipolarity (word invention?) is probably why it's hard for me to answer to the "describe your style" type questions. Maybe I should answer "all over the place"? I some times wish my style was more cohesive so all my items would be able to be remixed better. My blog would also probably fare better as I would always cater to the same audience. I wish I could "pick a theme"...be it rocker, bohemian, romantic, vintage, simple, or preppy. Then I realized...waiiiit! Why should I concentrate on distilling my aesthetics instead of on living life day to day in the outfit that best fits the mood of the day? Since when did I base what I wear on public opinion? Does anyone else actually ever start letting their blog affect what they wear or am I the only one catching myself thinking "oh don't know if this is exactly 'blog-worthy'..."?
As for the Blazer styling contest, sorry for the delay and I am sad that very few people participated this time...until I realized this is due to the 30x30 challenge going on (super awesome challenge, too bad I am too lazy to do laundry so often and rely on having so many pieces of clothing so I only have to do laundry once every 2 weeks....). I also had trouble keeping track of all of the submissions amongst the junk emails and 5 blog posts' worth of comments. Also, I probably should have made more effort to make the challenge more well-run and more advertised...so I will be taking this week off to muse on how to improve the contest in the future. (Email submission links, buttons for participants, a professional page, etc). However, I did round up two posts from the blogosphere...sorry to anyone that might have submitted it and I didn't receive it!!! I will learn from this lesson next time. (Also, I highly suspect I missed some submissions so if you did submit, please let me know).

The past couple of days have been quite uneventful other than Fashion Freakout show. You know, the usual weekend routine: eat brunch with Tim, thrift a little, go to B&N for browsing magazines and more nerd books, bake, answer a few emails (which I'm terribly behind in), grocery shop at HEB (I need to stop going .on Sundays...apparently everyone and their mom goes to the one by UT on Sundays), watch The Social Network (reminds me of my high school days when all my guy friends were programmers), buy too much random crap at Blockbusters (Pacman mints? YES! Mario Kart candy dispenser? Hell yeah!). That's one reason I love Tim so much...very few guys get why I love random trinkets like an ipod speaker that looks like a lego block or earbuds that look like Reese's pieces. He's always right by my side shouting "ohhhhh cooolll! A wallet that looks like a PBJ sandwich!" :) Hope everyone else had a great weekend!
UPDATE: Please help me win this contest! Follow this link to the MB Fashion Week page. Like my photo (not the entire album, just picture 9, the one of me!). You have to "like" Mercedes Benz Fashion Week to like the photo! Thanks!!

I love how swishy your skirt is too! Also, I think it is really cool they way you've layered necklaces here! Thanks for the mention! :) I'm looking forward to seeing how you make changes to the challenge in the next couple of weeks!

What a unique skirt so cool. I love all the pieces and great combo together.
ReplyDeleteThe favorite thing about my blog is exactly the fact that it causes me to think about what I will wear that day. I "dig" a little deeper in my closet and I like that.
ReplyDeleteI am less tempted to fall back on "lazy" and make the extra effort to look sharper. I ALWAYS feel better when I am what many people view as "dressed up" anyway.
Your style is great! I LOVE the fact that you are "dressed up" most days, too. Not really the typical college student, huh?
How many times a day do you get asked. "Why are you so dressed up?" Hate that question. I always want to respond, "Why are you dressed like a slob?"

I don't wear jeans: YES EXACTLY! people in my chemical engineering department learned after my freshman year (this is my last year) that I am just weird and wear skirts/dresses all the time. now they look at me weird if I wear PANTS. haha.
ReplyDeleteBoooo =[ Only two people this time? That's upsetting. I'll try to post a link on my blog to help get the word out.
ReplyDeleteLove the excessive ring-ness. =] I always feel so badass when I were tons of rings.

yasmeen: yeah I might have missed a few link submissions since people tend to submit via comment on a random blog post... I need to get a good submissions system going.
ReplyDeleteI love your ability to take something that I'd quickly dismiss as ugly on the rack or online and turn it into something cute and interesting. I in no way mean that as an insult! I love your blog, your style, and your disregard of public opinion!
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you have to have a blog to participate in the challenges?
yelena: Nope! you can email me at inherstilettos(at)gmail.com
ReplyDeleteSkirt and jacket <3
ReplyDeleteHaha! I totally ask the same question. Is it blog worthy? Most of the time the answer is no but I think it's funny you ask the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is amazing!! Love the style!

Gorgeous outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit and the various styles you can pull off. Part of fashion is playing around with different things and figuring out what you like. I do have that feeling some days though that certain things just aren't blog-worthy. It gives me a shove in the right direction to dress my best though.
