Brrrr it was actually chilly for once last night when I went on a dinner date with Tim! We had a couple slices of pizza (ok mayyybe more than a couple) and played some arcade games.
No words can describe my love for this coat. Its color, cut and simplicity seems to go with every dress I own.
Someone asked me to write a bit more about my personal life on here, probably expecting a bubbly or glamorous lifestyle. My real life is probably the farthest away from being glamorous or bubbly as you can imagine at times. I was that kid in high school with 10000 chemistry textbooks in my backpack, a violin in one hand, and a Rubik's cube in the other. I went to middle school with only two pairs of identical pants that I had to wear every single day (so cool, right?). I came to the U.S. when I was eight knowing nothing about the English language and went to school in a town about 45 minutes from the Mexican border. Needless to say my growing up had not just endless teasing but quite a bit of interesting twists and turns as well, including an particular incident where the entire second grade had to write letters of apology for being racist towards me. (My parents never found out about this incident) So that's why other than saying something about Tim's parents being in the hospital or complain about research, I try to keep it light-hearted on my fashion blog these days. I see my fashion blog as a place to escape a lot of the endless worries and drama of life. Who wants to read sob stories on a fashion blog? Not me. I might start my personal blog back up though... if I find the time to update regularly. I've considered deleting this paragraph multiple times in the past hour but decided to leave it as it is.

Love the outfit again! What class are you taking? I'm sure Thomas has already taken it, and if you're having any trouble I'm sure he'd be willing to help you. He's really smart and actually good at all the EE stuff :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful how you've used fashion as a way to express yourself and to escape; that confession and the outfit are fantastic. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with this coat!! still after the last post, anyway I know what you are going through when you were in second grade, how I wish I experience it when I was a little instead here when I'm in my 20s. Life is hard as it is and I dont know why people are just make it even harder!!! You go girl!!

I know what you mean. I've always debated writing personal things on mine. It makes the blogger more real...but at the same time, there's stuff that's TMI. I love the coat btw! You pull it off really nicely. Hope it warms up where you are soon! :]
ReplyDeleteYasmeen
i LOVE the cut of this coat !! it's so feminine !!
ReplyDeleteI totally love your coat, it's so feminine and chic, no wonder it works perfectly with all dresses! And that fur scarf is beyond amazing, I, myself and looking for one as well! You're outfit is such a nice pop of color (instead of my depressing love of black and neutrals in the cold) for the winter!
ReplyDeletexxAnisa
such a gorgeous coat.. especially the color
ReplyDeleteLove that coat! And thank you for sharing this with us. Even though you may not want to, I surely appreciate you doing it (no pressure though! Do what you want!) I have my own views about being Asian and I typically shy away from it on blogger because I am so hesitant about the response.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet. Always knew between the lines how hectic and crazy life you have with your studies. I feel the same way about my fashion blog. Keeping it light and escaping the real life drama. I think eveyrone gets that. :)
ReplyDeleteYOu have been such a inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know your past! We all go through difficult situations in life!
Lovely outfit btw! <3
how gorgeous is that color of the coat <3
ReplyDeletevdcouture
That coat is such an amazing colour on you, and the stole is lovely x
ReplyDeleteI guess life happens, but hopefully you feel good about the way your life turned out to be this far.I must admit I've never hear anyone being so "in love" wth chemistry and I thiis nk it is a great feeling to know for sure what you want to do in life. Now on to the fashion part: can I just take a plane and come all the way to your house to try that coat?Pretty please? :) It is so amazing I can't even describe how much I love it.And I wouldn't mind seeing more outfits includng that coat.Oh, and a late Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of you!!!I have always this great fabulous style ;D
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always amazing
xxxx
I'd like to see people wear clothes as you! Around I see grey, black and boring sets (in place where I live). I love watching ur new sets:) Always is colorful and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love your coat, the colour is gorgeous :) You will always be glamorous in my eyes, no matter what your history is :)

what a nice choose for the coat.i love the colour and everything!
ReplyDeletecallmediiiyn!
Isn't high school a bitch? Seems like you had an especially tough time, so well done for getting through it incredibly well :) It's always a fine line between what you share on a blog and don't - only one of my friends and none of my family know I have mine, which gives me a bit of freedom, but I still waver over some paragraphs! Tend to stick to the light and fluffy too, but I'm always interested to find out more about other blogger's lives, good and bad.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I LOVE the coat with that dress, it's like they were made for each other!
Perfect outfit! The coat is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coat <3

I love your use of color! The jacket is gorgeous and love it with the scarf! Chic:D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the look. Cute dress! ~
ReplyDeleteI love your coat! I love what you said about it going with everything. Sometimes people think that the only way to get something that "goes with everything" is to get it in black or brown or possibly gray. It is just as easy to mix color in as it is to stick with neutrals.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a crazy childhood. I'm always happy to hear more about you, but I see where you are coming from. We right fashion blogs for the fun, the self-expression and the little bit of fantasy it adds to our day :)
Beautiful coat, gorgeous outfit! You look fantastic!!

Adore that jacket.

Sometimes it's nice to know about the blogger behind the posts, you may or may not feel connected in a way with him. At least that is what I feel. My life isn't glamorous but still, I am not hiding it.;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Great coat!! :D
I can certainly see why you love that coat! And the fur stole is so glam.
ReplyDeleteIt's my first visit to your blog, so it's pretty cool to learn a little bit about you. Nice to "meet" you!
Leaving the House in THIS?!?!
Totally love that you wore this coat again! It's just too pretty. I wish I could have gone out on our chillier nights lately, but I've been too sick. Blah.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awful about those kids who were mean to you growing up. Ugh, ignorance is a terrible trait. I'm glad you've moved past it though girl, you really are gorgeous and I love reading your blog.
Love the faux fur with the jacket! Chic and timeless :)
ReplyDeleteThat coat is simply wonderful (again) and I love how you layer and pick up colours between your items.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing something of your personal life. I can understand why it must have been hard to post and I am so sorry to hear how difficult things were growing up. It also brought back some memories of high school for me, from not fitting in to carrying those Chemistry textbooks. Nice to learn we have more in common than just blogging.
Thanks for sharing!! No need to apologize for not sharing more, it's understandable :)
ReplyDeleteLove the bright blue and fluffy collar :)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is the perfect blue!

Love to see another fashionable girl into video games! Where do you guys play? I used to play a lot at Le Fun and Einstein's on the Drag, but it's been years (and now they're gone). :(
ReplyDeleteI have to say that your blog really does inspire me.
ReplyDeleteI actually came from a similar background as you, being Chinese as well, and also studying engineering at an engineering school now. There are so many times I've blamed my schedule/lifestyle for not actually dressing the way I want, opting for the bland baggy tees and jeans everyday, but in the end, with the help of your blog, I've come to realize; if that girl can pull off a more hectic schedule and still look that stylish, I should stop using my schedule as an excuse. From that, I've come to realize that it was not my schedule's fault but my own, I was scared of standing out. Now I'm in the progress of straying away from "safe" outfits and started wearing outfits that I've always wanted to wear, but too cowardly to wear in public, knowing that it's just more than looking good, but being more comfortable with who you are, even if you are different from others.
Thanks for creating such an inspirational blog and keep up the good work! :D
I love your fur stole :) its gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAll your outfits are always amazing!

ReplyDeleteThank you SO much for writing that sweet comment! I'm glad you've decided to dress despite being in the engineering industry/major. It is HARD at times to fit a cute outfit in when you've got lab, research and judgmental classmates but to me in the end it's worth it because no matter what a shitty day I've had, at least I looked great!
Just came across your blog- very inspirational and love your sense of fashion!
ReplyDeletesuper cute! i am in love with that coat! :)
ReplyDeletenatalieoffduty.blogspot.com
I think its okay to say some stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou'll look back some years back and you'll be glad (maybe not) you did :D
http://districtoffashion.blogspot.com/
You're so gorgeous, it breaks my heart to think of anyone making fun or teasing someone because they're different..it's even more disturbing to think of kids doing it..because they're learning it from someone at home most likely...
ReplyDeleteps love the coat!
How terrible to have to endure that! Everyone thinks of Asian Americans as the silent, perfect minority. The Model Minority no one picks on... but being surrounded by whites and latinos, that probably wasn't your experience from the sound of it. Thankfully your teacher recognized the bigotry of the children and made them apologize. But that is still horrifying to have to go through as a child.
ReplyDeleteI grew up a nerd, but not in the math way. The book/videogame way. I played Violin, too. Eeps.
I'm glad you have turned into the motivated, hard working, beautiful woman you are now. I'm sure the adversity was terrible, and it is really, really awful you had to go through it... but times of suffering do help us grow, and it really seems that you have! I hope that you have!
I'm glad you didn't delete that paragraph. I think fashion blogs should display humanity and the deeper sides of the writer's life other than just pretty photos and light hearted stuff. It shows there is a heart and a brain behind the beautiful photos.

wow I can only imagine how your second grade year went. I know in the south racism tends to be more prevalent but that's so awesome they ended up apologizing. I think its getting better down here.
ReplyDeleteLove your style and I don't think it matters how personal or impersonal you are on here, it's your blog, its whatever.
