vintage blouse, thrifted belt, urban outfitters dress, amrita singh necklace
These pictures were taken yesterday and as I'm struggling for something to keep my mind off the hospital news (read more below), I've decided to blog to distract myself....
I know I don't talk about my personal life on the blog very much but I feel the need to rant today.
As you may have heard on twitter, Tim's mom is in the hospital again, this time it appears to be more serious than the past few times (I've forgotten how many times she's been rushed to the hospital total since this summer but this is the fourth time since the start of winter/xmas break). She's being flown to the hospital instead of being driven this time around. I've spent the past two months helping out down at their house but now that school started I'm back at my apartment in Austin and I feel so useless waiting by the phone. My fingers are crossed for her recovery, but it's been an uphill battle since she appears to have given up the will to eat or drink sufficiently to recover. We've tried cooking her more frequent meals (she complains about being too stuffed to eat enough calories with just 3 meals a day), asking her what dishes she wants to eat, trying to sneak cream of chicken into every dish to add more calories...everything. However she just tells the nurses that she's being "strong-armed" into eating and basically insinuates that we've been abusing her or something....so frustrating. There's more details to the story but all in all, it's been quite a hectic half a year since her first emergency hospital trip this past summer. Has anyone experienced something similar with their relatives? Anyway, I hope this explains why I've been effectively m.i.a. in fashion- and blogging-related events in Austin...

Warning: New follower! I hope Tim's mum gets better. I know how hopeless you feel, my poor Nan had an acute stroke whilst in hospital with an infection just before Christmas. And she is now basically a vegetable, she can't move nor can she eat or drink. It is so hard to watch her like this and there's nothing we can do...
ReplyDeleteChin up and keep positive.

Wow. My mother went into the hospital about three times in the last couple of years. I understand what you are going through. I am praying for you and Tim's mother.
ReplyDeleteLess important I'm sure, I love your outfit.
Absolutely in love with that jacket!!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your boyfriend's mother. Sounds like a very trying sitatuion for everyone involved. My grandpa had prostate cancer that advanced very rapidly years later and caused a liver cancer. He went from attending a board meeting to not walking/talking/eating in 4 days before he passed away. He would yell at us for trying to force him to eat. I can imagine what you all have been going through and it is not easy. Hope her condition is not fatal and this shall pass.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note your outfit is georgous as always. The dress is so light and girly and pretty.
I'm so sorry about your boyfriend's mother, I really do hope she gets better soon. I wish I had some advice or grand wisdom to offer for this sort of situation, but I have yet to experience something like this. You're there for her and that says a whole lot of great things about you!
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side these pictures are beautiful and I love that necklace! I've mentioned this before, but I love the way you mix textures!
