Silence & Noise shorts, vintage blouse, london fog bag, forever 21 shoes
Outfit: I finally found the (almost) perfect shorts! The only complaint is that it's a wee-bit too short when it starts riding up, which shows the part of my thighs that I'm highly conscious about (see below paragraph). The vintage blouse was part of the two pieces of clothing I bought with my Moderepublic trendsetters gift certificate a while back. Due to a mailing address mix-up I just received it. Even though I didn't think it was a big deal, Lily from LoveCharles was SUPER sweet to include an extra Bill Blass blouse for the package's late arrival. Thanks Lily!
Personal: Last night, our plans to make it back to San Saba fell through so Tim and I went on our (now weekly) routine: go thrifting at Savers and then go pig out at Chili's. I can't think of a better way to spend the day with my favorite guy (other than my little brother, of course!) in the world. Thrifting always makes me feel better after a long stressed-out week. Other than the modeling rehearsal today, I'm going to be extremely domestic and finally clean my apartment. :)
Fashion vs. Body Image: I know many people have commented on how short the skirts/dresses are on my blog; please realize that 1. the angle at which the shots are done (from ground up) make the skirts appear shorter and 2. it's really not my fault that I can't seem to find mini skirts that are slightly longer due to my height(5'10") at an affordable price (f21/UO/topshop/asos), feel insanely self-conscious about how knee-length makes my calves look bigger, and never find maxi styles that are actually "maxi" on me. Me being curvy makes the dresses/skirts even shorter than on a slim person my height. Of course, I could technically learn to sew better and add hems or just learn to wear pants but I've always loved to be girly and I really don't have time to alter every single piece. When it comes to body image, I have a huge insecurity issue about my legs. My parents have always told me that my legs are too stubby/muscular for shorts and miniskirts (Asian parents...) and an ex boyfriend always relished in telling me how my legs are so muscular and that he prefers slender long legs. Of course, I'm a girl so obviously I'm going to harp on the most insignificant thing ever (calves! thighs!). Over the years I've tried to fight that insecurity about my legs by ignoring my parents and wearing lots of shorts and miniskirts and finally have sort of come to terms with my legs. I can't say I no longer complain about my thighs/calves or that I don't feel self conscious in the changing rooms. I do however now have a bf that loves my legs and a collection of short skirts that expose my "muscular" legs. Sorry for the long rant, I just feel like no one ever talks about their body image insecurities on fashion blogs due to how personal it is. However, that part of my psyche is definitely present when I play with clothes or look at myself in the mirror so I feel like I had to share. I've enjoyed reading your comments on the previous post about love/hate relationships with blogs, so I thought I'll ask: is there a specific body part you're more self-conscious or insecure about?
PS. I KEEP forgetting to link to this AWESOME interview Gabrielle did on me. Read it HERE.
