Outfit: These shoes are totally the perfect summer shoes for showing off my pedicures (still working on not biting fingernails so didn't get to do manicures as well). I used to have this insane worry that gladiator-type shoes made my legs stubbier than the classic pump but I think I've finally got over that irrational thought... so bring on the adventurous shoes! The t-shirt is seriously one of Tim's (bf) favorite shirt; it's so threadbare and soft. Not only is Dangerous Toys one of his all time favorite metal bands, the band's lead singer (and his good friend) gave this shirt to him. As you can imagine, I was highly surprised he even let me wear this shirt for a photoshoot, much less for a whole day to class/lab. I definitely pulled out the labcoat when I was working with bleach (which I don't even do for some of my favorite items out of laziness) in research. Thanks Tim! Some of you guys asked about a tutorial on the skirt. I tried to type one out and it got to be so confusing that I just decided to link you guys to THIS. Their directions are much more well-written than mine was. The only difference is I used brocade to make the skirt look dressier and I tend to belt mine in various ways. I'll be making another one in satin or silk (I'm thinking in a champagne gold color) very soon so I might post pictures of my progress!
Personal: I'm still alive...although I'm barely surviving under the massive pressure of balancing classes, research (Dr. Georgiou, for those who asked), fashion mixers/lunches, modeling rehearsals, and a whole bunch of other personal stuff. I also got a DOMAIN! Now it's http://www.diyainherstilettos.com/ so update your blog links/readers! For the google reader/friend connect it should automatically transfer subscriptions seamlessly from blogspot to the private domain. Does anyone know if bloglovin' will also automatically transfer? I suck at all social-media-related operations. As you can tell from the pictures, I've been unable to keep myself away from sweets lately. So bad for me but so good for the soul! One final note: the best thing about this blog has been the friends & advice-givers I've met through it. I truly love each and every friend I've made these past few months, either through the internet or through Austin fashion blogger meetups. It's amazing how much I have this love/hate relationship with my blog! I hate it on days when I feel ugly or can't find anything that looks good on me (in my head) so I can't update it...and I love it on the days when I am reminded of how sweet some fellow bloggers are. Do any of you guys have love/hate relationship with YOUR blog?

I have a love hate relationship with my blog, I love the comments, the creative outlet and the ability to show off my personal style. I hate the days I cannot update and when I receive hateful criticism (like today when someone told me I look amish because I was wearing a vintage dress, not an insult exactly but it was meant that way) I really love your blog because you seamlessly blend your personal life with the fashion aspect!

You look great!
ReplyDeleteI too have a love-hate relationship with my blog, but it comes up when I attend way too many events, have too much stuff to write about, and no time to do it. I do like how blog events give me an excuse to mix and mingle with fellow local bloggers though! I really like how you're able to share a bit of yourself in your blog, and I look forward to all your posts. :) Oh, I have a very similar pair of heels, except mine are in brown!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric of the skirt is pretty!
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with my blog...it's a time thing for me. You know, decide what to wear, shower/put on makeup, take the pictures, photo editing, etc, etc. I mean, I love it for the most part (95% of the time,) but it is time consuming for me...
both outfits are really cool....
ReplyDeleteand I love your earrings on your first photo!!!
hope you are doing okay.just take your time love...we will still continue to check out your blog...
take care always
